What is QIP accreditation?
Quality Innovation Performance Limited (QIP) is a not-for-profit health promotion charity that works with healthcare authorities in Australia to offer accreditation against national standards of safety and practice.
For dental clinics, QIP has partnered with the Australian Dental Association (ADA) to develop Private Dental Practice Accreditation. This voluntary scheme assesses dental practitioners and clinics against six National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards that are relevant to dentistry.
How QIP accreditation works
To earn accreditation, dental clinics must demonstrate that they provide clear and evidence-based benefits to patients, including a high standard patient safety, reduction in clinical and general risks and commitment to ongoing improvement.
As standards and patient expectations are always evolving, QIP accreditation is an ongoing process. Dental clinics can submit to be re-assessed every few years to prove that their high standards have been maintained.
Why should I choose a QIP accredited dentist?
QIP accreditation is not mandatory for dentists in Australia, but it can be a useful guide for patients, as it shows at a glance which dental clinics have a proven track record for the quality and safety of their services.
When you choose a QIP accredited dental clinic, you can be confident that you'll receive a high standard of professional care using the latest technologies and techniques and that good standards and practices will always be followed.
QIP accredited dentists are educated and engaged in the services they offer and always prioritise patient safety to minimise risks during procedures. This could give you peace of mind that you and your family will be in safe hands and could help to alleviate dental anxiety.
